Being a serial entrepreneur can take a lot of work, but Christina Thomas says her primary motivation and inspiration is God. Between being a singer, songwriter, producer, author, wife and mother, Thomas still manages to find time to own her ‘Qweendom’ while helping others realize theirs.
What does music mean to you?
Music is life. It’s an anecdote. It’s a way for me to fight battles and communicate with God. I live to write and express myself through song.
When did you to start your musical career?
I began singing when I was eight-years-old, and I have been writing music since I was 14.
When did you start your businesses?
I started my first business in 2011, ThirtyOne Music Group, my record label, allowing me to be an independent recording artist.
I also have a digital marketing firm; I help business owners with branding and digital marketing via one on one coaching sessions. I have been helping small business owners brand their ideas and passions since 2014.
What made you want to write your book, “Entrepreneurship: My Story Your Guide?”
I have always wanted to be an author. The opportunity presented itself last year, and I could not pass it up. Since then I have authored two additional projects due to come out in 2019.
What are those projects about?
One of my projects is a book about millennial entrepreneurs. It is a collaborative effort, myself and three other ladies co-authored, and in it, we share our journeys as entrepreneurs.
My second project is a book about how to love Gods way. I am really excited about this book, I have been working on it for a while. I believe that it is my life’s work and calling to show people how to love. I think that people don’t know what real love is, or what it means.
Who are your biggest inspirations?
I am inspired by God, but my musical inspirations are BeBe& CeCe Winans, Hillsong, Toby Mac, MaryMary, DC Talk, and Kirby Caple.
How does your faith inspire your work?
I am 100 percent inspired by God. I cannot do anything in my own strength. I am currently running three businesses and a non-profit. I am also a wife and mother of two, and I hope to share my faith through music to inspire others to get closer to God.
That’s a lot to take on, what do you do to unwind as Christina, not as a mother or wife, or entrepreneur?
I like to read books and journal, I also like going to the gym and the movies. I am in the process of scaling back and prioritizing my efforts, though.
What do you do to stay motivated?
I tell myself that I am fearfully and wonderfully made and that I am smart, powerful, intelligent, and beautiful. I believe in the power of words and affirmations. I think that people get what they say.
What message do you hope the world gets from your work?
I hope that God can get the glory out of my life. I want to reflect Jesus. I hope that my work can inspire people to love others as they learn to love themselves.
What’s next for Christina Thomas?
I plan on launching a book and a music project next year, I would also like to plan an event for entrepreneurs. Mostly, I plan on minding my business for the rest of this year and into the next. I think it's easy to get distracted by the current culture we live in.
