Last-minute Gift Ideas for Him

Shopping for the men in your life might be difficult, but here are some easy, thoughtful gifts you can give; even if you’ve left your Christmas shopping to the last minute! Here’s my list of gifts so you can do all your shopping in one mall-trip.

Everyone needs to know what time it is, and watches make great accessories. Watches can get quite expensive, but with Christmas around the corner, a lot of stores have them on sale. WatchIt! has some great selections all under $150.

Cufflinks add elegance to a man’s fit, especially on special occasions. If the man in your life doesn’t already have a pair, this might be your chance to get him some. Hudson’s Bay (The Bay) has a sale on cufflinks under $50.

Ties are my go-to Christmas present because there will always be an occasion to wear a tie, so why not have options? Ties are also inexpensive presents, for the most part, allowing you to buy in bulk and give a tie to every man in your life. Winners has always got great deals on ties (or bowties if you’re feeling fancy) of your favourite brands (e.g. Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger) or The Bay has Hilfiger and Klein ties for $20

A wallet is a practical gift, you’ve got to keep your money and cards organized, so why not get a new wallet. People don’t always remember to get themselves new wallets, because as long as your money isn’t falling out, there’s no need; but they are always appreciated, and nothing beats that new leather smell with some fresh dollar bills. The Bay has great deals on wallets right now; I got a lovely Ralph Lauren wallet for under $30.

Who doesn’t want to smell nice? It might just be me, but I like having different options for scents— some days I want to smell flowery, other days just sweet, and the same for a lot of men I know. So, a nice bottle of cologne goes a long way. Sephora has a sale on cologne gift sets, which usually come with a lotion, cologne and something else depending on the brand. These tend to get a little pricey with most branded sets being over $70, but if you have no budget, it might be the way to go. If you also happen to find yourself in the United States (or you’re a Qween for the U.S.) they have sample sets of different brands, and you can trade in a certificate for the full size of the cologne of your liking; it gives you a chance to try ten samples for USD 65.

Scarves, Hats and Gloves

Living in Canada winters take up most of the year so this might be the most practical gift. You can never have too many fashionable ways to stay warm. You can find these in any store with no problem, but The Bay has some great Calvin Klein hats, scarves and gloves each between $30 and $50; and the best thing about them is the gloves are leather with wool lining, so you’re sure to be warm but looking snazzy!

And if all else fails you can always get him a gift card to his favourite store, or sign up for a subscription service. There is so much to choose from, so it’s hard to go wrong with any of these ideas.
